Bidsawa website and mobile app development
Located in Nairobi, Kenya, Bidsawa is a bidding system that strives to provide buyers and sellers with a platform to trade online. A seller posts the items they want to sell on the website and waits for the auction process. To make operations of the organization smooth and more efficient thereby attracting more customers, Bidsawa chose to have their impact felt online by having us create a website for them. They also wanted us to create a mobile app for them, which would go a long way in making efficient their interaction with the customers.
The challenge
The client required us to design a website and a mobile App for them from scratch. The two main challenges were:
- To create a website with unique design, to make it stand out among its competitors. A great website would help improve the image of the company greatly, which would serve as a way of attracting traders to trade with them.
- Advanced auction system that allows customers to competitively bid for a product starting from a price of ‘zero’
- Create an easy to use mobile app that will make Bidsawa’s presence be felt by their customers at any particular time.
Our approach
After analyzing what the clients wanted from us, we had a series of discussions with the client, the developers, content creators, and the project managers. During the discussions, we agreed on the strategies that we were going to implement, as well as the design that would be used for the website as well as the mobile app.

The design
The clients’ main desire was to have a unique website with an attractive homepage that makes customers pause for a moment. The website also had to be quite easy to maneuver, so that customers would know where to click next and how to order for items in a simple manner. Apart from ensuring that the website was attractive enough, we had to ensure that it was simple to interact with and that it functioned as smoothly as possible.
The clients also wanted the mobile app to be easy to use. Thus we had to keep it simple, while still ensuring that it contained all necessary information.
- The bidding system
The clients didn’t want the price list to be fixed but rather competitive bidding starting from zero. However, with our experienced developers, we were able to create not just the algorithms for auction to come up with the final price, bid prices and also for the design tool.
Though this was not easy, the experience of the developers and teamwork made it possible to achieve this without a hitch.
The algorithm created to set the prices for all commodities at zero. The system involves the use of a timer. Clients are given a certain amount of time to go through the properties of the item being auctioned (For example 10 minutes). After the 10 minutes are over, customers with bids can now start bidding. Whoever bids the last gets the item.
Our team of developers created the website in such a way that the items are declared as sold as soon as the price is paid. However, for example, if a customer wins a refrigerator but fails to pay within 24 hours, the customer loses the bid as the refrigerator is taken back to the bidding process. This is to protect the sellers from jokers and having to wait for a long time before they can receive money for the items sold.
At the end of it all, we were able to design an App and a website for Bidsawa. We did our best to ensure the needs of the clients concerning the mobile App were met. The App was simple, yet attractive, and containing all vital information. The design tool used helped ensure that the app was fully functional and not prone to breaking down.
The website was fully functional with user-friendly features. The website resonated well with the idea that the clients had. The user-friendly features enabled the users to interact quite smoothly with the website. The colorful homepage attracted the customers like the easy to use features directed them to the important pages. The website was worth every minute we spent working on it.
